Aussie's PAX 2023 Recap

A photo of Aussie's PAX 2023 booth entrance, with a long exposure shot meaning the people walking in front are blurred. The archway is a green colour, with the text saying "VR Freeplay Area", "Scan to Win" (with a QR code underneath), and photos of gaming prize packs.

The circus that is PAX has left town, and the convention’s 10-year anniversary celebration of gaming and gamers was unreal! We were lucky enough to have our own Aussie VR Freeplay booth, with attendees trying their hand at different virtual reality games like Pistol Whip, and Job Simulator. It wasn’t without any reward however, with some lucky PAX-goers instantly winning some neat Aussie merch.

Outside the four walls of our booth, there was no shortage of things to see and do. The term “dress to impress” was redefined by so many, with next-level costumes on show wherever you turned.

An image of four photos of different people wearing different costumes. The first in the top left corner is a photo of 4 people dressed in costumes from the game "Halo" and the movie "Star Wars". The bottom left corner is a photo of 4 people dressed as characters from "Super Mario Bros.", with the people (from left to right) dressing as characters Bowser, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Mario. The middle photo is of a man, a woman, and a male child dressed as characters Mario, Bowsette, and Toad respectively from "Super Mario Bros." game. Finally, the right photo is of a person dressed as a wizard, with a pointy hat, brown trench coat, black boots, and an axe. He looks as if he is swinging the axe.

But, the section we couldn’t wait to get to was the Aus Indie Showcase, displaying some of the best up-and-coming indie games Australia has to offer. Titles like Copycat, Primordials Legends: Hollow Hero, and The Dungeon Experience, all blew us away, and we can’t wait to get our hands on them as they release!

An image of three photos of three different game stands at a convention. The first is a photo of a game called "The Dungeon Experience" with a cutout of a character in the form of a crab, and two televisions showing the game either side. The second image is of the game "Copycat", with a TV showing the game underneath as well. Finally, the last game is "Primordials Legends: Hollow Hero" with a TV showing the game underneath. All games have "Aus Indie Showcase" written above them.

Back at the Aussie booth, we had a huge PC or Console Pack to give away, with a big congratulations going to Miguel O. for an Iconic Win!

Thank you to everyone who entered the competition and enjoyed the Iconic Duos game. Miguel, we hope you have an absolute blast with your new PC setup!

Finally, a huge “cheers!” to everyone who came and saw the Aussie booth over the course of the weekend – bring on PAX 2024!
