How to remove an FTTC NCD from your FTTN service, and connect your modem/router correctly
Last Updated: Thursday 27 Apr 2023
Currently, the Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) nbn® connection box (network connection device – NCD) you are using is acting like a modem for your Fibre to the Node (FTTN) service. These connection boxes are designed to work with FTTC service, not FTTN services, by removing them from the premise where they were installed, you are actually taking NBN’s property.
To remove the NCD and connect your router properly, you will need to:
Unplug the NCD and remove any cables that accompany it
Ensure your modem/router is VDSL compatible
Using a dsl cable (phone cable), connect your router from the wall socket to the dsl port on your modem/router
Reconfigure your router to match the settings outlined in this Help Centre page
Once you’ve removed the NCD and reconnected your modem/router, please follow the following steps to return the NCD to us:
Package the NCD appropriately
Include the power lead
Include an account identifier, like your customer number or service address, so we know you’ve sent it
Post it to us
