NBN Backup Battery - Troubleshooting

During a power failure, the power supply with battery backup on your NTD will beep once and automatically switch over to backup battery power.

Once your battery power reaches 40% (roughly 3-3.5 hours) the power supply with battery backup will shut down to save the remaining 40% of battery power (roughly 1.5-2 hours). This saved power can be used to make emergency calls, if needed.

What happens when your battery reaches 40% power remaining?

The battery power indicator will likely flash and the power supply will begin to beep four times a minute. Once the beeping stops, the power supply with battery backup will shut down to save the remaining power.

I need to access the remaining backup battery power!

If you need to access remaining batter power after the power supply has shut down:

Press and hold the BATTERY EMERGENCY USE button for 2 seconds until the power supply beeps once and all 4 lights flash.

This should provide an additional 1.5-2 hours of power.

Note: If you do this, you will not be able to turn the battery power off again until power is restored.

How long do battery backups last?

Battery backups will continually recharge until they reach the end of their life and need to be replaced, which is estimated to be 3-5 years.

Can alarms be silenced?

Press and hold the ALARM SILENCE button to temporarily silence or re-enable alarm sounds for 24 hours or longer.

Note: We recommend only silencing alarms when absolutely necessary as you will not be alerted when your battery is in need of replacement, missing, or running low on power.

You should see the following on the front of your unit:

If the power supply with battery backup is operating normally on power, then the systems status light will be green, and the battery power and replace battery lights will be off.
