Your VoIP service during an emergency

Last Updated: Thursday 27 June 2024

As VoIP requires an internet connection to function, it won’t work if you aren’t online or don’t have power. So unfortunately, there may be periods when the VoIP service is down.

If you need your phone service during emergencies, it’s best to be prepared by having a battery backup installed, using a mobile phone instead, or speaking to another provider who offers home phone services for emergency situations.

We want to make sure that a VoIP phone service with Aussie is right for you. Here are a few things we’re unable to support:

  • Priority restoration assistance to phone line customers with diagnosed life-threatening conditions (for more information click here)

  • Monitoring of back-to-base alarm systems

If you use either of these services and have placed an order with us, please call 1300 880 905 immediately to cancel your order.

If you use a medical or security alarm service, we strongly suggest that you speak to that service provider to check whether it’s compatible with an nbn® service, and if not, what other options are available.

For more information about medical alarms and the NBN, please go to NBN's website by clicking here

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to get in touch through LiveChat on our website, or call 1300 880 905.
