Internet for Gamers

Great for everyone = great for gamers.

We believe that the best gamer-specific optimisations we can make is to simply have an awesome, rock-solid network that's great for everyone. So rather than charging you a fee to activate special “gamer features,” we just make sure our network is the absolute best it can possibly be, by ensuring that we include features and optimisations that can benefit all users, including gamers.

gamer-friendly network tools
  • Ping times

Gamers know that it's not necessarily the speed of your connection (though that's still important!) but your ping times that matter most when playing fast-paced online games. That's why we put ours on full display, which you can check out at any time.

  • Direct peering

A great way to improve ping and download speeds is with direct peering links to the services you're trying to reach. We have direct links to Blizzard and Twitch in Sydney, Valve and Microsoft in Melbourne, and Google across multiple states.

  • International links

Got gaming buddies overseas? Connecting to servers in the US? No problem. We have international transit links with points of presence into major gaming regions such as the USA and Southeast Asia, so we'll connect you via the most direct route available to help minimise your latency.

  • CG-NOPE

Aussie Broadband has adopted CG-NAT technology for assigning IP addresses. This can potentially cause issues for Xbox and PlayStation users, as well as blocking the ability to host games, file servers, or access p2p gaming on some servers. Luckily, it's super easy to opt-out, just contact our friendly support team on 1300 880 905.
