Incoming and outgoing server settings for Aussie Broadband email addresses

Important: We are no longer offering new email addresses with the @aussiebroadband.com.au and @aussiebb.com.au domains.
We will continue to support existing Aussie Broadband email addresses.
This article provides the basic email settings required to set up your Aussie Broadband email account.
Select your preferred email program for tailored instructions or our general email settings guide below.
Login details
Use the following information when entering your username and password. Most email apps will ask for this information first.
Your Name: (enter the name you'd like to display when sending from this address)
Email Address: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Username: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Account Type: IMAP (read more before choosing POP/POP3)
The username field should not contain upper case letters and the password is case-sensitive.
Forgot your email password? It can be reset from the MyAussie® app or website.
Recommended server details
Incoming (IMAP or POP) Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Incoming (IMAP) Port: 993
Incoming (POP) Port: 995
Outgoing (SMTP) Port: 465
Other connection details
If you prefer to connect using a different protocol, or if your device is not able to connect to SSL or TLS servers, you may use the following alternative options:
Server type, encryption type Port IMAP, SSL or TLS 993 IMAP, no encryption 143 POP, SSL or TLS 995 POP, no encryption 110 SMTP, SSL or TLS 465 SMTP, TLS or STARTTLS 587 SMTP, no encryption 25 Open Outlook Express.
Click on Tools from the menu bar at the top, then Accounts.
A new window should open. Click Add. from the options on the right side, then Mail from the menu that appears. This should open another new window.
Enter the name you'd like to be displayed on the emails you send, then click Next
.
On the following page, enter your email address and click Next to continue.
Now, enter the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account as follows:
'My incoming mail server is a...': IMAP (read more before choosing POP3)
Incoming mail server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Next to continue.
On the following page, fill out the fields as follows:
Account name: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Leave the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) un-ticked and click Next to proceed.
You should have reached the final step on the Internet Connection Wizard, with a message confirming 'You have successfully entered all of the information required to set up your account.'
Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Outlook will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
Click Finish to close the setup window and save your email settings. If the Internet Accounts window is still open, you can safely close it now.
This article provides the steps required to successfully setup your email account in Microsoft Outlook (2007 version) on a Windows PC.
Open Microsoft Outlook.
Click on Tools from the menu bar at the top, then Account Settings.
A new window should open. Click New... from the options near the top. This should open another new window.
Tick the box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next to continue.
On the following page, select the option for Internet E-mail and click Next to continue.
Now, enter the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account as follows:
Your Name: (the name you'd like to display when sending from this address)
Email Address: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Account Type: IMAP (read more before choosing POP3)
Incoming Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Outgoing Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
User Name: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Leave the box for Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) un-ticked. Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Next. You may click Test Account Settings to verify you've entered everything correctly.
Click Finish to close the setup window.
Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Outlook will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
Open the Outlook app on your computer.
Click on File from the menu bar in the top left corner of the window, then click Add Account near the top of the window.
A new window should open. Type in your email address and click Advanced options. Tick the option for Let me set up my account manually and click Connect.
On the following page, select IMAP under Advanced setup (read more before choosing POP).
Next, enter the password for your email address and click Connect. Outlook will try to automatically detect the settings for your email account.
Please note: For Aussie Broadband email accounts, the password is set separately from your MyAussie® account. You can reset your email password from MyAussie® if you forgot.If successful, the next page will say Account successfully added. Click Done to finish setup.
If Outlook cannot automatically detect the settings, you will see an error. Continue to Step 6 if this happens.
If Steps 1 to 5 didn't work, an error will show that states 'Something went wrong' and 'The connection to the incoming server was dropped Please check the incoming server settings and try again'. Click the button that says Change Account Settings.
Now, enter the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account as follows:
Incoming mail
Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Port: 993 (use 995 instead for POP)
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail
Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Port: 465
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Leave the boxes for Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) un-ticked. Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Next. You may be prompted to enter your password again.
If successful, the next page will say Account successfully added. Click Done to finish setup.
Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Outlook will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
Open the Mail app on your Mac and click on Mail in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Then, click Add Account… from the drop-down menu.
Select Other Mail Account… button in the next window that appears, then click Continue.
Enter your name (as you wish for it to show when you send out emails), your full email address, and the password for your email address. Then, click Sign In to proceed. An error might appear after this step, continue following this guide if that happens.
On the following page, fill out the fields with your Email address and Password, then tap Manual setup at the bottom of the screen.
Please note: For Aussie Broadband email accounts, the password is set separately from your MyAussie® account. You can reset your email password from MyAussie® if you forgot.Mail will try to automatically detect the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account. If it can’t, an error will appear saying 'Unable to verify account name or password' and prompt you for more information.
If the app shows an error, it will ask for you to enter connection details for the account. Fill out this form as follows:Email Address: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Username: Automatic (if that’s not an option, enter your email address again)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Account Type: IMAP (read more before choosing POP)
Incoming Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Outgoing Mail Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Sign In again and wait for Mail to verify your information and log into the email account.
Once your details are verified by Mail, the following page will ask you to select which apps to sign in to. Ensure the checkbox for Mail is ticked before clicking Done.
If you choose to tick the box for Notes as well, you will be able to sync pages from the Notes app to your Aussie Broadband email account. This will create a new email folder titled ‘Notes’, where data will be stored in your email account.Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Mail will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
Tap on the Email app from your home screen or app library.
If this is your first time using the app, you will be shown a screen that says Set up Email with some different account types to select. Otherwise, tap the hamburger icon (☰) in the top-left of the app, tap the settings icon (looks like a gear wheel), then Add account.
From the Set up Email page, select Other from the options displayed.
On the following page, fill out the fields with your Email address and Password, then tap Manual setup at the bottom of the screen.
Please note: For Aussie Broadband email accounts, the password is set separately from your MyAussie® account. You can reset your email password from MyAussie® if you forgot.A prompt should appear that says 'Select account type'. Unless you're familiar with using POP, choose IMAP account from the options available.
You should now be on a page titled Server settings.
Fill out the fields under Account as follows:Email address: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Username: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Then, fill out the fields under Incoming server as follows:
IMAP (or POP3) server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Security type: SSL
Port: 993 (use 995 instead for POP)
Auto delete from server: Never
Scroll down this page and fill out the fields under Outgoing server as follows:
SMTP server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Security type: SSL
Port: 465
Require authentication to send emails: Must be turned on.
At the bottom of the Server settings page, make sure your email address and password are entered again in the fields here. Once everything on this screen is filled out, tap Sign in (found in the bottom-right corner).
Your device will start verifying the settings you've entered to see if they are valid. Once your details are confirmed, you should be taken to a new screen that says 'Inbox' at the top. If this doesn't happen, you will need to go back and check you've entered everything correctly.
It might take some time for your emails to load, depending on the speed of your connection and how many emails are stored in your account.
Open the Thunderbird program on your computer.
You can quickly find it by searching in the Start Menu.Click Tools and then select Account Settings...
A new window will open on top. Click Add Account... from the options in the bottom-left corner of this window.
Another window will open on top that says Account Wizard at the top. On the first step of this wizard, select Email account and click Next > .
On the next page, fill out the fields as follows:
Your Name: (the name you'd like to display when sending from this address)
Email Address: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Check you've entered your details correctly and click Next to proceed to the next step.
Now, enter the Server Information for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account as follows:
Select the type of incoming server you are using: IMAP (read more before choosing POP)
Incoming Server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Un-tick Use Global Inbox unless you're familiar with this feature and wish to use it. Then, click Next to continue setup.
On the next page, enter your full email address again in the field next to Incoming User Name and click Next to proceed to the next step.
Almost there! Thunderbird will ask you to enter your preferred Account Name. This will be used as a label to identify your account in Thunderbird, so you can enter whatever you may prefer. We recommend simply using the email address so it's easy to identify in the future. Click Next to finish the Account Wizard.
The last page of the wizard will show the details you've entered so you can review and confirm they are correct. Once you're sure these settings are correct, click Finish to exit the wizard.
The pop-up window will close, and you will be back in the Account Settings window. Click Ok at the bottom to close this window and return to your inbox.
Once all these steps have been completed, Thunderbird will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
On your iOS device, tap Settings.
Scroll down the menu and tap Mail.
On the following page, tap Accounts, then Add Account.
A list of popular mail providers will appear, tap Other.
On the next pages you will be prompted to enter your email account details.
Fill this section out as follows:Name: your name or your business name – this will show to recipients when you send emails from this device.
Email: type in your Aussie Broadband email address here.
Description: this field is for you to leave a note next to the email account in your phone’s settings, so you can remember what it’s for. Enter whatever you like here!
Host Name: enter mail.aussiebroadband.com.au in the field for Incoming Mail Server as well as the field for Outgoing Mail Server.
Username: this should be the exact same as your email address.
Password: enter the password you created for your Aussie Broadband email address.
Forgot your password? Reset via MyAussie®.
Tap Save. If you get a prompt asking if you want to set up this account without SSL, accept this by tapping Yes on this prompt.
On the next page, tap Save to finish setting up your email account!
And… Voila! The account should now be ready for use. Head to the Mail App on your iOS device to start sending and receiving emails!
