This article provides the steps required to successfully setup your email account in Outlook Express (1996 version) on a Windows PC.
Open Outlook Express.
Click on Tools from the menu bar at the top, then Accounts...
A new window should open. Click Add. from the options on the right side, then Mail from the menu that appears. This should open another new window.
Enter the name you'd like to be displayed on the emails you send, then click Next.
On the following page, enter your email address and click Next to continue.
Now, enter the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account as follows:
'My incoming mail server is a...': IMAP (read more before choosing POP3)
Incoming mail server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:
mail.aussiebroadband.com.au
Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Next to continue.
On the following page, fill out the fields as follows:
Account name: (your full email address, such as example@aussiebb.com.au)
Password: (the password for this email address)
Leave the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) un-ticked and click Next to proceed.
You should have reached the final step on the Internet Connection Wizard, with a message confirming 'You have successfully entered all of the information required to set up your account.'
Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Outlook will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.
Click Finish to close the setup window and save your email settings. If the Internet Accounts window is still open, you can safely close it now.
And that’s how you log in to your Aussie Broadband email address using Outlook Express (1996)!
